Anyone who has ever rented a house (which, let’s be honest, is pretty much everyone) has had a need for cheap and easy furniture at some point in their lifetime. That means they have probably visited a certain flat-pack furniture retailer that rhymes with “My KIA.” There you will find everything from bunk beds to bathroom tapware.
Now, this furniture chain is in plenty of countries across the globe, yet they’re all pretty much exactly the same. They all sell cheap furniture that you have to select yourself, find yourself, collect yourself, and build yourself. Oh, and they also sell weirdly cheap food.
The entire process is quite laborious if you do not know what you are getting yourself in for. It is not an understatement to compare the layout of these stores to a hedge maze; nor it is an understatement to say that you might emerge out of the experience (if you emerge at all) with a rather large migraine.
The gauntlet begins in the living rooms section, where you will find all manner of couches, sofa beds, tv units and storage options. The journey then moves onto the kitchen section, where you can fit out your entire kitchen with all manner of new cabinets, drawers and doors.
If you need something for your office, then that section is next. Desks, chairs and office add-ons can all be found there. Then comes the more relaxing part of the store, with bedrooms. All manner of beds are on display for both adults and kids. It’s the perfect spot to take a load off before you continue. The first half of the store ends with the kids department, with all types of toys and games for the little ones.
The second half of the store is focused on all kinds of ‘bits and pieces’ to make your house a home. It starts with kitchen products, before moving into cushions, bedding and other textiles. Then comes the bathroom section, where you can find bathroom tapware as well as other odds and ends.
The store ends with a rugs department, organisation options, decorative pieces and even outdoor items and plants.
So, if you’re looking for a confusing place to take your sanity and your money, this business is for you.
